EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College (ABTECH) – Geology Instructor (08/06 –  Current) I am responsible for developing the geology department at ABTECH, teaching over 100 students (4 classes and 4 labs). I am developing and teaching Physical Geology, (advanced) Environmental Geology, and Historical Geology. In addition, I serve on several committees, facilitate and organize 12 field trips/year and organize guest speakers for the College.

Western Carolina University – Adjunct Geology Instructor 08/06 – 12/06 – Responsible for teaching two Introductory Geology classes with approximately 70 students.   

University of Tennessee, Knoxville (12/03 – 12/05).  Graduate Assistantresponsible for research, data collection, construction of geologic maps and balanced geologic cross-sections, teaching, and field trip assistance responsibilities. Organized and led Earth Science fairs, and International Basement Tectonics meetings.  Volunteered at the McClung museum (a Smithsonian affiliated institution) and various elementary schools.

 Aquaterra Engineering LLC, (11/02-1/04).  Staff Geologist:  Served as project manager for groundwater,  storm water, and soil sample collection and analysis, well logging (geophysical investigations), Environmental site assessments, writing proposals, and general environmental remediation projects. This was done by maintaining close relationships with state departments of transportation and environmental quality, the National Park service and the private sector.            

University of Southern Mississippi (12/00 – 12/01). Research assistant - Wetlands delineation:  Sediment degradation delineation at surrounding intermittent streams on Camp Shelby military base.      

University of Southern Mississippi (1/97 – 12/99). Work study - Museum of Natural History. Geologic  and  biologic evolution Mural and diorama design and set up.
