This course offers instruction and practice in advanced customer service skills. Topics include identification of customers' personality style and the development of a response in relationship to that style, understanding and demonstration of interpersonal skills, active and effective listening, advanced telephone skills, and de-escalation of conflict. Students will also gain an understaing of stress management techniques, realm of control and the impact of customer service in the workplace, community, and beyond. Special emphasis will be placed on communication, including enunciation and word choice. This course is included in the JobsNOW initiative - participating students will also enroll in a JobsNOW employability skills course, and prepare for assessments that lead to attaining the North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate. Cost includes an insurance fee of $1.25. (160 hrs)
