Lateral Entry Bridge Course

This course is designed to meet the 80-hour pre-service NC State requirement for Lateral Entry teachers. It is also recommended for anyone interested in becoming a part of the teaching profession.

Topics for discussion and review include:

• Identifying Characteristics of a Quality Teacher
• Establishing Effective Classroom Management Strategies
• Developing Appropriate Methods of Instruction
• Implementing Vital Classroom Organization Skills
• Building Effective Communication with students, parents and colleagues

Participants will be required to maintain and submit an activity log, reflecting number of hours devoted to lesson plan design, classroom observations and other out-of-class and field-experience type assignments. A certificate of participation and successful completion will be awarded at the close of the program to those candidates who complete all necessary requirements.
