Enter the world of technical know how and support. This class prepares students to take the A+ certification exam, considered the entry level certification for IT professionals. You will learn about the hardware common to virtually every personal computer. You will review various Windows operating systems covered by the A+ Certification exam, and will explore how to install, maintain, configure, and upgrade most current versions of Windows. Attendance at the first class is required. (77 hrs)

CCENT I: Networking for Home and Small Business

Need to better understand how your network works, or why it doesn't when it doesn't? This two course track prepares students to take the CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician) exam. Not interested in certification? This class is still for you! The Cisco Networking Academy Program combines instructor-led and online education with hands-on laboratory exercises to prepare you for employment opportunities in the real world. Learn the ins and outs of personal computer hardware, operating systems, connecting to a network, connecting to the internet through an ISP, network addressing and services, wireless technologies, basic security and troubleshooting your network. Students will need basic PC competence, in both hardware and operating system, equal to those gained in IT Essentials I or similar work experience in the IT arena. Attendance at the first class is required. (64 hrs)

CCNA I: Networking Basics

Information Technology is an integral element in everyone's life. The Cisco Networking Academy Program combines instructor-led and online education with hands-on laboratory exercises to prepare you for employment opportunities in the real world. This course is the first of four courses leading to the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) designation. You will learn Network terminology, Network protocols, the basics of LANs, WANs, the OSI model, cabling, cabling tools, routers, Ethernet, and IP addressing. You'll also build skills in the proper care, maintenance, and use of networking software, tools, and equipment. Students will need basic IT skills, equal to those gained in IT Essentials I or similar work experience in the IT arena. Attendance at the first class is required. (80 hrs)

CCNA IV, WAN Technologies

This course is the last of four courses leading to the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) designation. The course focuses on the following topics: Advanced IP addressing techniques, Network Address Translation (NAT), Port Address Translation (PAT), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), WAN technology and terminology, PPP, ISDN, DDR, Frame Relay, and Network Management. Students will be required to apply information from CCNA 1, CCNA 2, and CCNA 3 to a network and should be able to explain how and why a particular strategy is used. This course will also help students prepare for the CCNA exam. (80 hrs)

RHCT I: Linux Essentials

This course is the first in a series of three which will prepare you to take the Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) exam. You will explore an introduction to essential tools in Red Hat Enterprise Linux. This lab intensive course is designed for students with little or no command-line Linux or UNIX experience. Although this class is taught using Red Hat Linux, the skills obtained are applicable to any flavor of unix. Students will need user-level experience with any computer system, including: use of mouse, and use of menus. Attendance at the first class is required. (64 hrs)
