Computer Repair, Maintenance, and Upgrading
Need to install more memory? Need to replace a modem or network card? This class is for you! In this hands-on course, you will learn to identify and maintain the components of a computer, replace and add memory, install and format a hard drive, install an operating system and add new software. Simple troubleshooting techniques and preventive maintenance will also be covered. This class focuses on PCs and will not include a discussion of laptop repairs. Reference books are optional and will be discussed at the first class. Classes held at the Madison- Honeywell location will require an insurance fee of $1.30. Attendance at the first class is required. (35 hrs)

Computer Skills for the Workplace Using Microsoft Office 2007
Employers seek and reward employees who can produce professional letters, analyze data, create graphs and dazzling presentations or add and edit information in a database. Add these skills to your resume with the hands on course designed for students who want to improve their computer abilities to help them compete in today's workplace. You will work with Microsoft Office including Word (word processing), Excel (spreadsheets), PowerPoint (presentations) and Access (database). An overview of Windows, File Management, and basic Internet skills is also included. Students will need basic computer skills, equal to those gained in Computer for the Beginner. Digital Imaging and the PC
Do you need to better understand how to work with a digital camera or scanner? You will learn the means to move images to the computer to be able to create newsletters, web pages and presentations. You will discover what is important when selecting a digital camera, how to download, save and retrieve files, how to use a scanner, and how to send and receive images using the internet. You will be introduced to Photoshop Elements and Microsoft Office Picture Manager, two popular digital imaging programs. Bring your camera to class (if you have one). Students will need basic computer skills, equal to those gained in Computer for the Beginner. No textbook is required. Attendance at the first class is required. (18 hrs)

Education: Effective Teacher Training
This class is required preparation for substitute teachers for all Buncombe and Madison County Schools. It is also an excellent crash course in learning methodologies and classroom management for current or returning teachers. It can be taken for certificate renewal. This course will use the curriculum approved by Asheville City and Buncombe County Schools. Notary Public Education
This course covers the qualifications, procedures, and certification for becoming a notary. Frequently notarized forms such as car titles are reviewed. Upon completion of this course with a passing exam grade of 80%, a person is eligible to make application with the NC Secretary of State office. The textbook, Notary Public Guidebook for North Carolina, approximately $21, can be purchased at the Madison, Asheville or Enka Campus bookstore, which is closed on weekends. This course provides basic training in the entry-level caregiving skills needed to work as a Nursing Assistant in various healthcare settings such as nursing homes, hospitals, or private homes.
