Writing: Creative Non-Fiction Workshop

Here's a chance to explore the world of creative non-fiction for fun, self-satisfaction and possibly for pay. While traditional non-fiction deals mostly with the presentation of factual information, creative nonfiction uses the tools of the fiction writer to present factual information in a vivid and compelling manner. We'll learn to apply those tools to our writing, so we can fashion gripping essays, memoirs and articles. We'll talk about "the hook," that first line so powerful that makes us keep on reading; the art of showing instead of telling; weaving dialogue skillfully; and other techniques to make our creative non-fiction writing shine. (15 hrs) No fee exemption
