K. Ray Bailey honored with PTK Lifetime Achievement Award

A-B Tech Phi Theta Kappa officers, from left, Grace Harrison, vice president of Service; Michelle Marcoux, president; Susie Jarman, vice president of Fellowship; and Jennifer Rogers, vice president of Scholarship, present the Michael Bennett Lifetime Achievement Award to K. Ray Bailey, president emeritus.

K. Ray Bailey, president emeritus of A-B Tech, received the Michael Bennett Lifetime Achievement Award from Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year colleges, at the organization's international convention April 4 in Philadelphia.

The Bennett Award is presented to college presidents at two-year institutions and state community college directors who have been supportive of Phi Theta Kappa, and are retiring from their careers. Bailey was nominated for the award by A-B Tech students in November. In 2007, he was named the Carolinas Region Distinguished College President of the year for Phi Theta Kappa.

Bailey retired as president of A-B Tech in August 2007, after 41 years of service to the College.
