The Dallas Herring Achievement Award was established by the North Carolina Community College System in 2010 to honor the late Dr. Dallas Herring, one of the state’s earliest advocates of community colleges. The award is bestowed annually upon a current or former student who embodies Dr. Herring’s philosophy of “taking people where they are and carrying them as far as they can go.
This year’s nominee was chosen by Rebecca Loli, Director of Transitional Studies who said:
Jessica is becoming an inspirational and motivational leader as she develops her skills and leverages her experience to help others. Within months of arriving at Transformation Village, she joined the staff full-time and there are plans to promote her to Resident Assistant when they open a new facility in 2024. Jessica also serves as a spokesperson for Transformation Village and shares her story with all who will listen.
