Pet ID Tags just got a lot more fun and stylish thanks to internet startup Dog Tag Art. The company permanently prints 'community-sourced' artwork on durable pet tags with 100's to choose from on their website. "We are working to provide essential pet identification tags in a fun way. Our artists are the creative engine that makes this possible." says founder Jack Carrier. Site visitors can choose their favorite design, upload photos, or even submit a new design and earn royalties.
The company has a new web-based service in development, called an "eTag" that will allow the pet's owners to be contacted in a variety of ways through a unique web profile which will be printed on the tags. For example, "dogtagart.com/yourpet". If you pet gets lost, that profile will serve as an emergency backup to the telephone number. Look for this to be launched in December 2009.
