A-B Tech’s Center for Business and Technology Incubation is conducting a Technology Business Plan Competition for emerging technology-based companies that are ready to enter into their production phase.

The winner of the competition will receive a $25,000 grant through funds from an anonymous donor. “The donor is a firm believer in the program,” said Russ Yelton, Entrepreneurial Ventures and Business Incubation executive director. “This donor in the community wants to assist companies in developing their technology business.”

The chosen company will also receive $6,675 in donated services from accountants, attorneys, a Quickbooks expert, and experts in the fields of marketing, branding, and banking. Up to 20 percent of the grant may be used for a relocation allowance if needed. The winner of the competition must be willing to relocate to the Small Business Incubator at A-B Tech’s Enka site.

The intention of the grant is to assist a business that has completed a prototype in moving into production phase, with the end result being a completed saleable product. The grant will be distributed according to the benchmarks submitted with the application.

“The plans will be judged by a panel of volunteers and business people in the community. Those selected as finalists will be required to give a 15-minute in-person presentation,” Yelton said.

The contest will conclude at the end of June.
