Radiography Student Damaris Pierson Nominated for Robert W. Scott Leadership Award

In 2004 the North Carolina Association of Community College Presidents created the Governor Robert W. Scott Leadership Award as a way to recognize student leadership on a statewide level while also honoring former governor Bob Scott.  Pierson was nominated by Radiography Chair Rene Brooks.

Damaris’ Statement

My leadership style is leading with love. I believe that in general, the role of a leader is to coach, guide and inspire others. When we’re leading with love, we embrace our own vulnerability, openly acknowledge our own imperfections, and share how they allow us to learn and grow.  We build a culture where tough discussions can happen tha build even deeper connections between coworkers/classmates. In my experience this type of leadership has proven to provide people with ultimate satisfaction in their own performance, commitment to an organization/school and to hold accountability for themselves.
