The scholarship application process for the 2021–2022 academic year runs from January 11, 2021, through April 2, 2021. Scholarships are awarded in June.
How to Apply for Foundation Scholarships
A-B Tech/UNC Asheville Scholarships
UNC Asheville offers the following scholarship opportunities for A-B Tech transfer students. Students are awarded scholarships for two years at A-B Tech and then two years at UNC Asheville. (Please note: Applicants must self-identify/manually apply for these scholarships in the "Recommended Opportunities" list of scholarships once the general application is submitted.)
HERO Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a child or a dependent of essential front-line workers as a Firefighter, Police Officer, or Healthcare Worker.
- Be enrolled full-time in the A.A., A.E., A.S. transfer program with a concentration on transferring to UNC Asheville.
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Demonstrate a financial need by completing the FAFSA.
- Be a resident of North Carolina.
- Preference is given to those students currently participating in the A-B Tech Bulldog Trailblazer Promise program.
McKibbon CORE Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria:
- Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA.
- Be enrolled full-time in the A.A., A.E., A.S. transfer program with a concentration on transferring to UNC Asheville
- Demonstrate a financial need by completing the FAFSA.
- Preference is given to those students currently participating in the A-B Tech Bulldog Trailblazer Promise program.
C.O.R.E. (Creating Opportunities for Regional Excellence) Scholarship
Eligibility Criteria:
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Be enrolled full-time in the A.A., A.E., A.S. transfer program with a concentration on transferring to UNC Asheville.
- Demonstrate a financial need by completing the FAFSA.
- Preference is given to those students currently participating in the A-B Tech Bulldog Trailblazer Promise program.

Lavender Fund Scholarship
Scholarship Opportunity for Single Parents
- Be enrolled in a curriculum program, seeking a certificate, diploma, or degree
- Maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA
- Be enrolled in at least 8 credit hours each semester
- Be a single parent with primary custody of at least one child under 18 years of age*
