Welcome to the Minority Male Success Initiative (MMSI) at A-B Tech!
A-B Tech’s Minority Success Initiative is dedicated to amplifying the educational success of minority students within the North Carolina Community College System. Originally launched to support minority males, the initiative has since evolved to welcome and empower all minority students. Our mission is to ensure that all minority students thrive academically and socially through tailored support and collaborative engagement.
We believe in the power of campus resources to enhance the overall academic and social experience. Through MMSI, students are encouraged to tap into these resources, paving the way for academic excellence and personal growth, because MMSI isn't just a program—it's a community. We foster collaboration among student participants and various institutional departments, creating a network of support that extends far beyond the classroom.
Our guiding principles are empowering students and fostering collaboration.
Here's how we do that with our students:
- College Navigation: personalized guidance to navigate academic challenges and set achievable goals.
- Success Strategy Sessions: we help students map out their path to success, providing the tools and support they need to reach their full potential.
- Peer Empowerment Network: building connections and learning from one another is at the heart of what we do. Our peer empowerment network connects students with mentors who understand their journey and are there to offer guidance and support.
- Partnering for Progress: we work closely with A-B Tech's resources and provide referrals to ensure students have access to the support services they need to thrive.
Trailblazer Training: we believe in nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. Through MMSI, students have the chance to develop their leadership skills and make a positive impact both on campus and in their communities.
