The Executive Committee of the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Board of Trustees convened a meeting on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. in the Simpson Building. Roger Metcalf, Vice Chair, presided.
The following members of the Executive Committee were present: Joe Brumit, Frances Ramsey, Matt Kern, and John Parham, Chair.
Others present for the meeting included: Dr. Joe Barwick, Executive Leadership Associates; Dr. Myra Johnson, Executive Leadership Associates; Chris Campbell, College Attorney; and Carolyn Rice, Secretary to the Board.
Closed Session
At 1:03 p.m. Mr. Brumit moved that the Executive Committee of the A-B Tech Board of Trustees go into closed session pursuant to G.S. 143-318.11(a)(1) to discuss confidential personnel matters pursuant to G.S. 115D-24-27; (a)(3) to discuss matters covered by the attorney-client privilege, and (a)(6) to review the qualifications for employment of a public officer or employee.
On a motion properly made, the Committee returned to open session at 4:30 p.m.
Presidential Search
The Executive Committee agreed to the following actions:
- ELA will call the seven finalists as soon as possible to let them know they have moved to the next level in the process.
- ELA will discuss the pros and cons of the seven finalists with the full Board on January 27, 2020.
- Interviews for the final three candidates will be held on February 11, 18, and 25. March 2 will serve as an alternate interview date in case of inclement weather.
