Federal Work-Study Position Directory

Welcome to the Federal Work-Study Position Directory. The positions listed below have been submitted to A-B Tech’s Financial Aid Office from FWS supervisors located both on and off-campus, and are active for the current academic year.

Federal Work-Study jobs are Title IV-funded positions that pay an hourly wage towards an annual award amount, which is determined by the Financial Aid Office for eligible students. The work schedule for students in the FWS Program will be set up around their existing class schedule, and will not exceed twenty (20) hours per week. The pay rate for on-campus positions is $16.00/hour, while the pay rate for off-campus positions is $19.00/hour.

In order to participate in the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program at A-B Tech, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Must have a completed fafsa account for the current year on file with the Financial Aid Office
  • Must be meeting all required Satisfactory Academic Progress standards (students who are suspended from receiving financial aid for academic reasons are not eligible for FWS funding)
  • Must be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours in a supported program of study
  • Must have unmet financial aid needs as determined by the Financial Aid Office

If you have student loans, please consult with the Financial Aid Office prior to submitting your application, since your loans may affect your work-study eligibility.

Only if you meet the above requirements, and are interested in participating in the FWS Program, use the links provided below to explore the FWS positions that are currently available, and contact the position supervisor (contact information is provided within each job description) to apply for an interview. Be sure to complete and include an application for the position of interest in your email. We recommend using Internet Explorer on a desktop computer to complete the application. Using a phone, tablet, or any other browser may result in the inability to input data or save the completed application. If you have any questions regarding the aforementioned requirements, please visit the Financial Aid Office before applying for a position.

To Apply

  1. Complete an Application for the position you are interested in.
    • Avoid using a smartphone or tablet for this purpose.
  2. Contact the position supervisor whose information (email) is provided at the bottom of the job description.
    • Include (attach) your application to this email and check that it retained the information added.
  3. If selected for an interview, the supervisor for the FWS position will contact you via phone or email, using the contact information you provided on the application.

Students who are selected by an FWS supervisor for an interview will be notified by the supervisor via phone or email, using the contact information provided on the student’s application. However, not all students who apply will be selected for interviews- if you have applied for a position but are ultimately not selected, you should receive a notification of non-selection from the hiring supervisor via phone or email within two (2) weeks of the date your application was submitted for review.

If you have not received a reply from the hiring supervisor within the specified two (2) week timeframe, please contact the Financial Aid Office at financialaidoffice@abtech.edu for inquiry (specifying the position title, the hiring supervisor, and the date of your application submission).

While you may apply for more than one work-study position, you can only be hired for one of those positions.

** Please note: Submitting an FWS application does not guarantee hiring for a Federal Work-Study position. Placement into a position is contingent on job availability, the student's qualifications, selection by a supervisor, and program funding. **
