Auditing Courses

Overview

Students who would like to take a curriculum academic class (normally for college credit) and do not want to receive credit for the class may have the option to audit the class instead. The procedures below do not apply to Continuing Education classes, which are classes that can never be used for college credit.

To audit a course, you must be enrolled at A-B Tech as a Curriculum student, register for the course through the regular registration procedures, and pay standard tuition and fees. Below are some important points to keep in mind about auditing a course:

  • Audit work does not receive credit and cannot be used toward a diploma or degree requirements.
  • All prerequisites must be met before a course can be audited.
  • Physical Education/Health and Fitness Science classes may not be audited.
  • Audit work is not covered by financial assistance (such as federal or state financial aid).

Change from Credit to Audit Status

If you would like to audit a curriculum academic class (normally for college credit), you must submit a completed Request for Audit form to the Records and Registration Office within the first 15 days of the term (for a full 16-week class.) The instructor must sign the form to approve the audit. To get a copy of the Request for Audit form contact the Records and Registration Office at registrar@abtech.edu  or by visiting the Info Desk in the K. Ray. Bailey Student Services building.

Change from Audit to Credit Status

You may change from audit to credit status through the Records and Registration Office only during the first five days of the term.
