The Executive Committee of the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Board of Trustees convened a meeting on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. in the Simpson Building. John Parham, Chair, presided.
The following members of the Executive Committee were present: Joe Brumit, Frances Ramsey, and Roger Metcalf.
Others present for the meeting included: Mr. Chris Campbell, College Attorney; and Carolyn Rice, Secretary to the Board.
Board Constitution
The Executive Committee discussed further changes to the Board Constitution. In addition to reverting to monthly meetings, a section regarding the procedures for remote meetings will also be added.
The Committee agreed that any Trustee who wished to attend a Board meeting remotely must notify the President of the College, the Chair, Vice Chair, and/or the Secretary to the Board at least 48 hours prior to the meeting.
The Committee discussed replacing Roberts Rules of Order with North Carolina Schools of Government for Small Boards. The Committee will revisit this discussion at a later date.
Closed Session
At 4:23 p.m. Mr. Brumit moved that the Executive Committee of the A-B Tech Board of Trustees go into closed session pursuant to G.S. 143-318.11(a) (1) and (3) in order to discuss confidential personnel matters pursuant to G.S. 115D-27-29 and to discuss matters protected by the attorney-client privilege. Dr. Metcalf seconded the motion.
Return To Open Session
At 5:05 p.m., Dr. Metcalf moved to return to Open Session. Mr. Brumit seconded the motion.
Adjourn
On a motion properly made the meeting adjourned at 5:07 p.m. by unanimous consent.
