The Trailblazer RISE (Respect, Integrity, Support for Everyone) award was given during a breakfast in December. The nominees were Michael Harney, Damian Beavers, Carla Coombs, Emma Harper, and Daniel Mancuso, with Beavers selected as the overall winner.
Each of the five nominees wrote what RISE means to them.
Michael Harney, an Adjunct Spanish Instructor who has worked for the college since 1993.
It is my honor to have been nominated for the Fall 2019 Trailblazer RISE Award. What wonderful experiences I've had working here at A-B Tech for the past 27 years! My life has been more than enriched by meeting and working with the many students and colleagues I've met here at A-B Tech over the years. Thank you all for what you bring to this community.
Damian Beavers has been a Technology Support Analyst in the Desktop & Instructional Technologies Department for the past four years.
Damian shared the following quote from John F. Kennedy:
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
Damian also said RISE is a lifestyle and requires action at all times.
Carla Coombs is a Transcript Evaluation Specialist. Carla has been with the college since 2013.
It is an honor and a privilege to be nominated for the Trailblazer RISE Award. Demonstrating an inclusive and welcoming culture of respect, integrity and support for everyone (RISE!) is the epitome of the Golden Rule – a motto I have tried to live by my entire life. I am very fortunate to live and work in a community of people who share the same philosophy and practice it each day.
Emma Harper is an Assistant with Continuing Education and Economic Workforce Development. Emma has been with the college for the past six years.
The RISE culture means to be trustworthy, reliable and accountable for your actions. Also, show respect to our students and coworkers with the appropriate conversation and empathy inside and outside of A-B Tech Community College.
Daniel Mancuso is the Chair of Electrical Engineering and has been at the college since 2012.
To me, the RISE culture is the daily practice that we all participate in. Whether it is with our students, co-workers or community, we are providing a positive influence, practicing kindness, and helping open pathways of opportunity for others.
