A-B Tech to Offer Free Fast Track Training for Pratt & Whitney Jobs

A-B Tech’s Advanced Manufacturing Center is now accepting registrations for a free Pratt & Whitney Fast Track training program designed to put area residents on the path to full-time employment with benefits in aerospace manufacturing. The first training session begins on February 18.

Pratt & Whitney is seeking career-minded individuals for immediate openings in production and other areas of operations. Manufacturing experience is not necessary for this opportunity, but applicants must be U.S. citizens and have a high school diploma or the equivalent. Fast Track training prepares individuals to interview with and work for Pratt & Whitney.

“We are excited, as Pratt & Whitney is, that it is time to start training potential new employees for its new Asheville facility,” said A-B Tech’s director of Economic and Workforce Development Kevin B. Kimrey. “We have been preparing for this important step for several years through new equipment acquisitions, adding key staff members, and developing training curricula.”

Kimrey also noted that the Appalachian Regional Commission awarded A-B Tech two $1.5 million grants for technical equipment purchases for the Pratt & Whitney project.

The training at A-B Tech will prepare applicants to interview with and work for Pratt & Whitney. Training Topics include:

  • Safety
  • Introduction to Lean Manufacturing
  • Work Instructions
  • Communication Skills
  • Employer Expectations
  • Shop Math
  • Problem
  • Solving
  • Team Building
  • Computer Skills
  • Online Learning Modules
