A-B Tech Phi Beta Lambda Students Win at State Conference




A-B Tech Community College Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) members Bethany Duke and David Peck represented the college at the State Fall Leadership Development Conference in Greensboro in November. The conference focused on how to have a successful PBL chapter. PBL is the Future Business Leaders of America for career and technical students.

Duke and Peck were accompanied by chapter advisor and Computer Technologies instructor Veronica Dooly. “As a state officer, Bethany helped serve as master of ceremonies and helped lead a workshop on what it takes to be a state officer,” Dooly said.

A-B Tech was recognized with several awards:

  •  Fifth largest chapter in the state
  •  Fourth largest Professional Division in the state
  •  Largest chapter in the western region
  •  Gold Star chapter (1 of only 5 in the state) 
  •  Peck was a finalist in the PBL non-trivia contest
  •  Duke received an NC PBL Scholarship of $1,500.
