Treasured Tree at Magnolia

The large Southern Magnolia tree on campus in front of the Brumit Center for Culinary Arts and Hospitality has been designated at a Treasured Tree by a program through Asheville GreenWorks. The plaque placed on the tree used a special screw with a spring to grow with the tree.

The Treasured Trees program was established to bring public awareness to valuable and irreplaceable trees, to encourage stewardship of the urban forest and to protect trees from indiscriminate removal or irreparable damage during development.

Trees that are nominated should have a historic, environmental or significant value, be a species proved to be long-lived and adapted to the region, and they may be located on public or private property in Buncombe County.
