FAFSA by Appointment

FAFSA by Appointment sessions are held in person in the Bailey Student Services building, main campus, and also virtually for those who are unable to visit us in person. Virtual assistance will be via Teams. The Financial Aid Office cannot assist in completing the FAFSA via telephone. For general telephone inquiries, please call the office at (828) 398-7920 for assistance.

If you need assistance with your financial aid application (FAFSA), you can schedule a FAFSA by Appointment by using the buttons at the bottom of this page.

Please be sure to bring the following items with you to your appointment:

  • You, and your parents, if you are a Dependent student, must have an FSA ID in order to complete the FAFSA application. You may create an FSA ID.
  • Bring a copy of your tax return for the appropriate year to your appointment. If you are a Dependent student, bring a copy of your parent(s) tax return as well. The FAFSA application uses tax data from two years prior. For example, if you are completing the 2023-2024 FAFSA, you will need your 2021 tax return information.
  • You, and your parents, if you are a Dependent student, should also create an ID.me account in the event you need to access your tax return transcripts at IRS.gov. For more information, visit: the Internal Revenue Service and ID.me
  • If you are a Dependent student, your parent(s) information will be required on the FAFSA. Your parents should be present with you in order to complete their portion of the application. Otherwise, the application would need to be saved as incomplete, and your parent(s) will need to complete their portion before it can be submitted.

All contributors must be present at your FAFSA by Appointment in order to complete the application.
  • All contributors must have an FSA ID in order to complete the FAFSA application. Create an FSA ID.
