Advanced Manufacturing Center Overview

The Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) at A-B Tech is a teaching facility that focuses on four specific goals:

  1. Building and sustaining a skilled workforce.
  2. Through education and training, connecting people to well-paying jobs.
  3. Meeting the immediate and future training needs of advanced manufacturing employers in A-B Tech’s service area – Buncombe and Madison counties.
  4. Serving as a resource that promotes local and regional economic development.

The AMC is a 30,000 square foot building devoted to “short-term” (non-degree) training in the advanced manufacturing sector. It encompasses a complete machine shop with new CNC and manual machining equipment, labs and equipment for composites manufacture and repair, mechatronics, industrial maintenance training (electrical, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, industrial controls, motors, etc.), sheet metal fabrication training, soldering training and certifications, state of the art classrooms, and office space.
