The Presidential Search Committee of the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Board of Trustees convened a meeting on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. in the Simpson Building.
The following members of the Search Committee were present: Joe Brumit, Committee Co-Chair; Gene Bell, Committee Co-Chair; John Parham, Roger Metcalf, and Frances Ramsey.
Others present for the meeting included: Chris Campbell, College Attorney; Cynthia Lopez, College Attorney; and Carolyn Rice, Secretary to the Board.
Presidential Search
The Search Committee discussed and agreed to the following:
- The Trustees will receive an updated search timeline, the results of the three campus forums, and the results from the internal campus survey representing the desired characteristics of the next President.
- The Board will receive copies of all submitted applications.
- The Board will choose a maximum of ten candidates as semi-finalists for the Presidency of the College.
- Chair Parham will update the campus on the Search, including an updated search timeline, the results of the three campus forums, and the results from the internal campus survey.
- Late applications will not be considered.
- Mr. Darryl Rhymes will be asked to submit ten interview questions for the Committee to use.
- Ms. Kerri Glover will be asked to submit a “needs-based” profile on the students and employees that the College serves, to the Committee.
- The Executive Committee will meet after the October 7 Board Meeting, to discuss potential candidates to act as an Interim President for the College, until the position is permanently filled.
