The following workshops are open to faculty, staff, and students.

 

The Importance of Life Coaching/Mentoring Orientation

  • Facilitator: Dr. Joseph Fox

“The Importance of Life Coaching/Mentoring” explores mentorship, life coaching, and advocacy as strategies that lead to student success. The focus is on identifying the "sphere of influences" that can provide a positive impact, support, and resources for students, creating a seamless transition from the educational journey to life-sustaining employment, and beginning the process of developing a comprehensive “Life Plan.” Students benefit from this session by discussing the elements of life coaching, including available resources, videos, reflection journals, and groups, as well as one-on-one life coaching sessions.

Supporting Gender Diversity

Where have we been and where are we going? In this presentation, you will learn about historical and current gender identities. We will discuss and showcase various genders and talk about ways to show support for gender diversity.

Using Resources for Success

Students will build upon their identified “Sphere of influences” to identify assets that can assist them in their life journey, leading to success as they map out their life-sustaining journey. Students will focus on setting achievable goals and outcomes, as well as starting the process of creating an asset map of resources. Students benefit from this session by identifying resources and processes that lead not only to student success, but also to life success.

Life Planning 101

Students will build upon the life planning process to further examine the components of their “Life Plan” and to examine skills and competencies that lead to a thriving career. Students will begin the process of resume writing and preparing for interviews. “Life Planning 101” benefits students by providing career-focused discussions, resource building, and preparing for career upward mobility.

Intercultural Communication and Inclusive Leadership

Have you ever asked yourself, what is intercultural communication? How can I be a more inclusive leader? In this workshop, you will learn key aspects of intercultural communication, inclusive leadership, and their vital importance in academic and professional settings. Through engaging activities and discussions, you will be empowered with practical insights and actions that contribute to effective cross-cultural interactions. Participants will leave with valuable skills to navigate diverse environments and lead inclusively on their academic and professional journeys.

Kahoot and Understanding Identity

Have you ever noticed a change in your identity depending on the people you are with or the situation you are in? Have you ever wondered about identities and how they affect how you perceive yourself? This interactive game of Kahoot will help to explore the different parts of our identity that make us who we are and will invite us to delve deeper into the process of self-examination.
