The Blazing Trails Early Childhood Education Scholarship is a new grant made possible by the Dogwood Health Trust and the Buncombe County Early Childhood Education and Development Fund. The scholarship aims to attract new or career-changing adults into the Early Childhood profession, as well as to support our current Early Childhood workforce.
Students will be part of a cohort that meets in person, one evening per week on the A-B Tech main campus. Students will complete the sixteen (16) credit Early Childhood Certificate program. This certificate provides students with minimum entry-level skills to work with children from three to five years old. Students will have immediate opportunities to begin careers in child development and childcare programs, preschools, public and private schools, and recreational centers.
Scholarship participants are eligible for the following:
- Payment of ALL tuition, fees, and books
- Loaner laptop computers (if needed)
- Early Childhood coach who will provide personalized instruction, advising, and academic support to the cohort
- Completion of the Early Childhood Certificate in as little as two (2) semesters
Blazing Trails Cohort Requirements
- Apply to A-B Tech and enroll in the Early Childhood Certificate
- Complete a cohort scholarship application and interview
- Attend weekly in-person classes one evening per week
- Complete required orientation and other training
- Participate in regular check-ins and feedback opportunities with the cohort coach
