Library Faculty Resources

Don C. Locke Library is dedicated to supporting all academic programs at the College, whether offered on campus or online. Faculty are encouraged to take advantage of the full range of instructional and resource services available through the library.

Bibliographic Instruction Sessions

Librarians are available to provide both general and subject-specific bibliographic instruction sessions.

Library Reserves

In addition, faculty may place department or library-owned materials on course reserve to ensure student access to essential resources.

Due to increased copyright compliance restrictions placed on libraries, Locke Library can no longer accept Instructor’s Editions or Instructor’s Review Copies for Reserve.

For more information on placing an item on reserve, contact a librarian on duty at (828) 398-7811 or (828) 398-7301. You may also submit an Ask-an-A-B-Tech-Librarian request.

Collection Development

Beyond instruction, faculty play a critical role in maintaining and developing the library's collections. We strongly encourage all academic departments to partner with the library in ongoing collection development efforts.

Faculty can support this process by:

  • Reviewing existing materials in their subject areas and recommending items for removal or retention.
  • Suggesting new acquisitions that reflect current instructional needs.

Suggestion for Purchase

By working collaboratively, we can ensure that the library’s collections remain current, relevant, and aligned with the evolving goals of A-B Tech’s academic programs.
