Trimming and maintenance of the equine hoof are crucial to the well-being and longevity of animals. Local farrier and instructor David King introduces students to proper trimming and equine hoof health basics. This class covers basic hoof anatomy, mechanics, tool options/usage, theory/practice of safe trimming techniques, and common hoof ailments with two days of live animal practice. Lecture takes place Tuesday nights at the A-B Tech Madison campus. Live practice activity at local partner Heart of Horse Sense on Saturdays. Students of all abilities are welcome to join the Woodworking Basics Shop Class. New students will be introduced to the safe use and proper handling of a wide variety of hand and power tools. They will be taught at first as a group, completing a small project. After that, each student is free to pick a reasonable project with the instructor’s approval, to complete under supervision. Students will be responsible for any required safety procedures and equipment. Students are also required to purchase all project supplies.
