A-B Tech and YWCA Childcare Partnership Program Accepting Applications

A-B Tech Community College and the YWCA of Asheville are partnering to provide short-term childcare for current A-B Tech curriculum and continuing education students at the YWCA at 185 South French Broad Avenue. Applications are now available at the college in the Bailey Student Services Center.

Students receive three free four-hour shifts of childcare in exchange for working one four-hour shift per week. Participants may bring their child with them when they work their shift and children receive snacks during each four-hour shift. Students may also opt to pay $5 an hour for the service.

Students will go through an intake meeting with YWCA Empowerment Childcare staff, will undergo background checks, and will receive CPR and basic childcare training. For more information regarding the program and to schedule an intake appointment, contact Kim Reed, Director of Empowerment Childcare, 828-254-7206 ext.113 or at kim.reed@ywcaofasheville.org.
