Peggy Higgins, Systems/Access Services Librarian
I began working at A-B Tech part-time in 2005 and became a full-time employee in 2013. I grew up on a farm just north of Weaverville, received a BA in English from East Carolina University, an MA, also in English, from Winthrop University, an MLIS from UNC-Greensboro, and did post-graduate library studies at Kellogg College Oxford University. My interests are dance, music, horseback riding, photography, and, of course, reading! I’d like everyone to know that the entire Locke Library staff is here to help you, whether it’s finding a book or locating just the right journal article for a research paper. All you need to do is ask!
What do you enjoy about working in Locke Library? The fact that I get to do a little bit of everything: from teaching, to web design and maintenance for the library’s web pages, to archives

I started at A-B Tech in June 2018. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in English and Women’s and Gender Studies from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2016. Of course, I enjoy reading! I also enjoy knitting, baking, and spending time with my two cats.You can never spend too much time in the library!
What do you enjoy about working in Locke Library?: I enjoy having the opportunity to make an impact on someone’s day in a positive way. Whether it’s helping them find the resource they need or even just having a pleasant conversation at the circulation desk, interacting with our patrons is my favorite part of my job.
