Asheville Regional Airport Gives $7.7k Donation to A-B Tech Aviation Program

A-B Tech’s Aviation program received $7,725 from the Asheville Regional Airport’s annual Runway 5K fundraiser, which was held in October. The donation will be used to support the A-B Tech Aviation Scholarship Fund which awards grants to Aviation students for their tuition or flight training costs.

The Runway 5K is held on the airfield at the airport and is one of the only flat races in the region. Up to 1,000 runners may enter each year. This year’s run celebrated the 60th anniversary of the airport.

“The donation is greatly appreciated,” said Tim Anderson, Chair of Aviation Management and Career Pilot Technology. “It will benefit many of our students who want to pursue a career either as a pilot or in aviation management.”

The Aviation program works with its certified flight-training partner, WNC Aviation, to prepare students for a variety of aviation and aviation-related careers with commercial airlines, general aviation, the aerospace industry, the military, or state and federal aviation organizations.

“We are grateful for the support of the Asheville Regional Airport,” said Amanda Edwards, Executive Director of College Advancement “Their partnership will ensure the availability of scholarships for future pilots and aviation managers.”

The Office of College Advancement houses the A-B Tech Foundation, which supports A-B Tech in all of its programs and activities to ensure that quality educational opportunities are available to its students, faculty, and staff.
