ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Asheville–Buncombe Technical Community College hosted a career fair block party Thursday night.

Several local businesses were on hand, including from the manufacturing, hospitality and food industries. There were even interpreters on hand in case anyone needed a translator.

School staff said the goal was to help bolster the local workforce and show the cooperation between companies and the community.

"There are a lot of unemployed people right now, and a lot of businesses need employees. But we also have a lot of community partners here. So, the collaboration between the community partners and employers was really important for everyone to see," said Ronnie Copeland, Coordinator and lead case manager for NC Works and A-B Tech’s WIOA program.

There were also opportunities at the block party to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
