Hospitality Management Students Greeted by Alum on AC Tour

Hospitality Management students in Walter Rapetski’s front office operations class went on a tour of the Asheville AC Hotel, one of more than 70 properties owned by John McKibbon. The class was treated to a presentation by four alumni of the Hospitality Management program who are each in management at the hotel. Taylor Troutman is the beverage manager, Cody Brown is an executive housekeeper, Callie Strickland is the sales manager and Michaela Stanton is the assistant executive housekeeper.

“It was truly an exceptional experience that current students could see first-hand the success of our graduates and how our graduates reach out to work with current students,” Rapetski said. “There are three current students who also work at this hotel and they see the opportunity to move up into management upon graduation.”

One of the graduates, Cody Brown, is being promoted again and transferred to another McKibbon property where he will be an assistant general manager for a Residence Inn Hotel in Spartanburg. Michaela is also up for a promotion as the dining room manager for the Capella on 9 Restaurant at the AC hotel.
