The Executive Committee of the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Board of Trustees convened a meeting on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 3:02 p.m. in the Simpson Building, second-floor conference room. Dr. Theresa Banks, Chair, presided.
The following members of the Executive Committee were present: Frances Ramsey.
Others present for the meeting included: Dr. John Gossett, President; Dr. Dirk Wilmoth, Vice President for Business and Finance/CFO; Ms. Ashley Leonard, College Attorney; and Carolyn Rice, Secretary to the Board.
Discussion Items
1. A. The Executive Committee discussed and approved the hurricane-related changes to the 2024-2025 Academic Calendar. The revisions will be taken to the full Board for final approval on November 4, 2024.
1. B. Dr. Wilmoth discussed the Employee Leave Policy and State of Emergency Leave Procedure with the Committee. A new procedure has been created in response to the declaration of a state of emergency by the Buncombe and Madison County Commissioners. The procedure would allow employees to be paid, subject to the availability of funding, for time lost due to an emergency.
The Committee discussed and amended the Procedure, which will be presented to the full Board for approval on November 4, 2024.
1. C Dr. Gossett updated the Committee on everything the College has been doing since the hurricane struck Western North Carolina on September 30, 2024.

At 3:42 p.m., Ms. Ramsey moved to enter a closed session as written.
Open Session
Upon a motion properly made, the Executive Committee returned to the Open Session at 4:00 p.m.
Dr. Gossett will address how to measure goals for his 2024-2025 Evaluation, as well as Performance Measures during the November 4, 2024, Board meeting.
