A-B Tech’s new Draeger Flash-Over Simulator “Flash Can” is ready for training!
Training sessions require specially trained live burn instructors provided by A-B Tech, 5 sheets of OSB, and 3 pallets per burn (also provided by A-B Tech). Each burn produces 3 or 4 flashovers for a group of 8-10 students. Plan on 4 hours of training time for a group of your firefighters, including several hours of classroom instruction followed by the live burn in the flash can. The mobile unit is very heavy (20,000 lbs) but can be moved to an area more convenient for departments not close to Woodfin. If your department has a source for free OSB, that will help with expenses!
