This endowment was established in 2006 by friends and family of Sgt. Jeffrey Hewitt in his memory. It is awarded to students enrolled in the Criminal Justice Technology, Emergency Medical Science (EMS), or Fire Protection Technology programs. Sgt. Hewitt served with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office for 11 years. He was shot and killed in the line of duty while serving papers at a local residence.
The scholarship application process for Foundation scholarships begins January – April.
