Emergency ServicesThis scholarship is supported by donations made in memory of Robert H. "Bob" Plyler. Bob was a fervent supporter of the local law enforcement and public safety professionals.
The scholarship application process for 2025-26 Foundation scholarships is open from February 1 to April 18.

Capt. Jeff Bowen Scholarship
Emergency ServicesThis scholarship was established in memory of Capt. Jeff Bowen, a 13-year veteran of the Asheville Fire Department, who gave his life in the service of others while searching for victims in a local building fire in 2011.
A.A.S. Over the Top Scholarship
Emergency ServicesThis scholarship was established by Dr. Robert W. Day, Ph.D. This scholarship is awarded to second-year students enrolled in A.A.S. and diploma programs in Emergency Service and Public Safety degree programs with a 3.0 GPA; demonstrate a financial need by completing the FAFSA.
Johnathan Giardina Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Emergency ServicesThis endowment was established in 2004 by Nick and Deborah Giardina. It was established in memory of their son Johnathan Giardina (1970-2003), a former A-B Tech student enrolled in the Emergency Medical Science (EMS) program.
