Payments:

Credit card payment is required when registering for Continuing Education classes online. You may use MasterCard, VISA, or American Express. If you prefer to use cash or a check, you may register by mail or in person. View CE Registration Office: Location, Hours, & Payment Options.

Refunds:

  • If a student officially withdraws prior to the first class meeting, the student will receive a 100% refund; Motorcycle Safety is excluded.
  • If a class is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, a student will receive a 100% refund.
  • A 75% refund will be issued (Self-Supporting classes with prefixes CSP and SEF are excluded) if the student officially withdraws prior to or on the 10% point of the scheduled hours of the class.
  • No refund will be made after the 10% point of the class.
  • The insurance, technology, and supply/lab fees are refundable only if a class is canceled or the student drops before the class begins.
  • Refunds are processed on the 1st and 15th of each month.

Discover how to paint human portraits and faces with ease and confidence. You will explore head and face proportions, and facial expressions while capturing likeness and individual characteristics. Discover how light and shadow affect expressions and create depth. Capturing a person’s face is art that tells a person’s story. This class is designed for those with painting experience and have knowledge of proportion, perspective and color theory. Come expecting to create beautifully interesting portraits. Bring several photos or pictures of faces along with your acrylic paints, brushes, and an 11" x 14" canvas or canvas paper.

This is an excellent way to be introduced to a variety of artistic processes, or to develop your painting practice. You will apply basic collage techniques with acrylic paint, glazes, pastes and mediums to produce fascinating works of art. Bring a small bottle of Elmer’s glue, brushes, acrylic paints and assorted papers such as old giftwrap, map and sheet music. Also bring an 8" x 10" canvas panel to the first class. The instructor will provide a complete materials list at the first class.

In this class you will still be working on the basics but you will also broaden your knowledge of pottery forms and glazes. Now that the holiday season is over come home to some one pot cooking. This course will highlight fast, easy and nutritious meals. Dinner will be on the table with very little clean-up. Steak Tacos with Cilantro Spread, French Onion Casserole and Pasta and Gruyere Carbonara are only a few of the "Wonders" we will be preparing. You will explore proper knife cuts and the best ingredients to use. Recipes will be provided each week. Wear non-slip shoes. You will explore how to invite a partner to dance and basic salsa etiquette, including what to wear and what shoes work best. You will master the basic salsa steps and understand how to put these together into simple combos. These elements can be put together to dance to any salsa song. Come have fun and join the salsa community. This is a partner dance. Enroll and register with a partner to enjoy a night of dancing. The registration fee covers one participant.

This course covers the skills required to provide support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with trauma-informed care, community engagement, and self-care. Emphasis is placed on knowledge of common signs of trauma responses in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, strategies to maintain trust with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and techniques to advocate respectfully and effectively for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Upon completion, students should be able to apply trauma-informed principles, effectively recognize trauma responses, apply practice methods to ensure the safety of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and recognize common indicators of stress and burnout. This course is specific to curriculum materials approved by the NC DHHS Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services.
