Asheville — A team of culinary students from A-B Tech was awarded second place on July 19 in the American Culinary Federation’s national finals competition in New Orleans.

Coach Chef Stephen Hertz said in a news release that students on this year’s team were exceptional.

“(They) have been an inspiration not only in their determination and focus to their work and menu, but also in their comradery and humility to their fellow competitors," Hertz said. "They continually show up to win, but also to make friends and network with their opposition.”

A-B Tech's culinary program advertises hands-on experience in five state-of-the-art kitchens and offers internships with restaurants, country clubs, and hotels. Its degree programs include baking and pastry arts, culinary arts, and hospitality management in addition to a number of culinary certifications.
