Information for individuals (clients) requesting to receive a student massage.
Thank you for choosing to participate in our student practicum clinic experience. We are looking forward to having a client massage clinic in March 2025.
The Massage sessions will start on March 13, 2025 - May 23, 2025, for 20 wonderful client days. Be prepared to have a wonderful experience with one of our talented massage students.
Notice: We will only be doing 55-minute table massages this session. Also, we will only be accepting Cash or Check Only in this session. Please be prepared to pay in the requested method or your appointment will be canceled.
The clinic is only open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays. We offer appointments only during these times at 9:20 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. In order to have the optimum time, please arrive 10-20 minutes early to pay and fill out intake forms. Please call (828) 398-7624 for an appointment. This information is very valuable for the Student Therapists to give the most appropriate care during your massage session.
Also, take advantage of the reserved parking spots for clients getting a massage. These are located in front of the building and have a sign designating the space for your massage time.
We will be set up outside of Room 242 on the 2nd floor, to check you in and take your payment only on the Client Massage dates. Arrive early if possible.
We have a very nice facility consistent with other programs in the area. We have curtains around the tables to protect privacy. The curtains will be open during the massage session to protect the student, and client and to allow the instructor to respond to questions as needed.
Any inappropriate conversation or behavior conducted toward a student during the session will result in immediate termination of the session and future sessions will not be permitted. Everyone must wear underpants to receive a Clinical Massage at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College. Individuals must be 18 years old or older to receive massage services.
Instructors and Student Therapists who partake in the A-B Technical Community College Clinical Massage Program will not diagnose any illness or disease. We will assess your clinical massage needs and perform a clinical massage accordingly. Please consult a primary healthcare physician prior to receiving a therapeutic or clinical massage.
Clinical Massages are given in Room 242 at the Ferguson Center for Allied Health and Workforce Development building (10 Genevieve Circle) on the A-B Tech Asheville Campus.
Appointment Times
Massage dates are March 13, 2025 - May 23, 2025, Thursday & Friday. There are three appointment times during the day 9:20 a.m., 10:45 a.m., and 12:50 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays only. We ask that you arrive 10-20 minutes before your appointment to give yourself plenty of time to pay the cashier and fill out the intake form. This session there will be some parking spaces reserved in front of the building to aid in finding a parking space at the AHWD building. Payment must be made in CASH or Check Only. Your appointment will have to be canceled without proper payment. Thank you for your support. Please only make one appointment a week.
Everyone enjoys the opportunity to get a massage. Share the experience. You may place your name on a call list for a cancellation. If you cannot make the appointment or will be more than 5 minutes late please notify us that you will need to cancel. More than one cancellation in a week will render us unable to schedule another appointment during the current session. Students gain so much experience by doing these sessions on clients, it is very important to show up and be on time. Clients gain a wonderful massage at an affordable price. It is a win-win situation when everyone does their part. Thank you!
Massages Offered:
You may not request a particular student. You must pay before going to the clinic area and have a receipt for the payment. At this time we will be offering only table massages for 55 minutes.
55-minute massage:
- Integrative Massage — basic all-body massage incorporating the system of transitional strokes and movements of Swedish massage with features of myofascial, trigger point, and neuromuscular therapies as a pathway to treatment-oriented work. As students become more experienced, massages can include advanced neuromuscular, deep tissue, myofascial release, visceral manipulation, and structural balancing therapies to lengthen the shortened muscles in the front of the body which reduces tension in the back (overstretched) muscles.
Cost:
- 55-minute massages: $25.00
We are located on the 2nd floor of the Ferguson Center for Allied Health and Workforce Development on the A-B Tech Asheville Campus in Room 242. We accept cash or checks.
