Throughout the year, students struggle through many obstacles. Unfortunately, those obstacles are not always academically related. Students on our campus deal with things like homelessness, domestic violence, substance misuse, and food insecurity.
Students at A-B Tech have received NC Space Grant Scholarships, been accepted into the NASA L’SPACE Virtual Academy, and were invited to Wallops Flight Facility as a NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars.
Retiring Instructors Russ Palmeri, Tom Sharar, and Chef John Hofland were each given the title of Professor Emeritus by the college’s Board of Trustees and honored at the annual employee holiday lunch. The program was started in 2017 to award instructors who have provided exemplary service.
In October, 48 volunteers from A-B Tech (staff, faculty, and Transitional Studies students) participated in 5 Days of Impact projects in and around Asheville, contributing 144 hours of service to our local community organizations.
