Personal Counseling

A-B Tech provides free, confidential counseling to students enrolled in any class. Located in the K. Ray Bailey Student Services Center, students are encouraged to use counseling services at any time if they have personal, academic, or career concerns. Appointments are held in person and via Zoom. The professional counseling staff, after the initial assessment, will refer students who need specialized or long-term services to appropriate resources within the community. Counselors are Safe Zone members.

Same-day appointments are typically available for students in crisis or in unsafe situations. Individuals experiencing an emergency should call Mobile Crisis Management Services (MCM) at (888) 573-1006. MCM is a community resource that is available 24/7.

Navigating Difficult Conversations:

There is a lot of controversy happening in our country with passionate people on both sides of every topic. How do we talk to each other without damaging each other? It’s so easy to hold tight to your opinion and not hear another person. We end up taking the person out of the equation and treating them like a faceless social media account, inclined to say anything we like regardless of how it impacts anyone. This blog from TalkCampus helps us slow down and think about how we have discussions and respect each other.

Career counseling and career exploration services are available to students who are undecided or confused about career plans. To schedule an appointment online, please refer to Career Services at A-B Tech.
