What Is a Dislocated Worker?
A Dislocated Worker (DW) includes:
- Individuals laid off or terminated through no fault of their own
- Received notice of termination or layoff
- Veterans or military spouses struggling to secure employment
- Reentry
- Unemployed 13 weeks or longer
Buncombe County Resident
- 20 or Older
- Meeting Federal Income Guidelines
- Citizenship or Work Authorized
- Selective Service Compliant
Displaced Homemakers:
- Those who provided unpaid family care (such as stay-at-home parents) and are now unemployed or underemployed due to divorce, the death of a spouse, or a significant loss of family income
What Is an Adult Worker?
An Adult Worker includes:
- Veterans & Eligible Spouse
- Recipient of Public Assistance
- Low Income
- Basic Skills Deficient
Buncombe County Resident
- 20 or Older
- Meeting Federal Income Guidelines
- Citizenship or Work Authorized
- Selective Service Compliant
If you meet any of these criteria, you may qualify for full or partial tuition sponsorship to train for a new, in-demand career.
