What Is a Dislocated Worker?

A Dislocated Worker (DW) includes:

  • Individuals laid off or terminated through no fault of their own
  • Received notice of termination or layoff
  • Veterans or military spouses struggling to secure employment
  • Reentry
  • Unemployed 13 weeks or longer

Buncombe County Resident

  • 20 or Older
  • Meeting Federal Income Guidelines
  • Citizenship or Work Authorized
  • Selective Service Compliant

Displaced Homemakers:

  • Those who provided unpaid family care (such as stay-at-home parents) and are now unemployed or underemployed due to divorce, the death of a spouse, or a significant loss of family income

 

What Is an Adult Worker?

An Adult Worker includes:

  • Veterans & Eligible Spouse
  • Recipient of Public Assistance
  • Low Income
  • Basic Skills Deficient

Buncombe County Resident

  • 20 or Older
  • Meeting Federal Income Guidelines
  • Citizenship or Work Authorized
  • Selective Service Compliant

 

If you meet any of these criteria, you may qualify for full or partial tuition sponsorship to train for a new, in-demand career.
