Topic: We Matter STEM Seminar: What Are Animals Talking About? Decoding Animal Vocalizations and Behavior Using AI
Speaker: Dr. Denise Herzing, Wild Dolphin Project
Dr. Denise Herzing, founder and research director of the Wild Dolphin Project, has studied Atlantic spotted dolphins inhabiting Bahamian waters since 1985. She received her BS in marine zoology, her MA in behavioral biology, and her PhD in behavioral biology/environmental studies. She was listed in the TIME100Al most influential people in 2025 and was awarded the 2027 Conservationist of the Year by Wild about Wildlife. Coverage of her work has appeared in many prolific sources, including National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, Nature, Discovery, TED2013, and others. She is a published author and has spoken at countless national engagements to educate the public on her important work with dolphins.
We Matter is a science seminar series hosted by the A-B Tech Biology and Chemistry Departments. It is open to the public and covers a range of STEM topics.
