Corporate Marriott on Campus February 12.
On Tuesday, February 12, a filming crew from Marriott Corporate Headquarters was on campus to interview hospitality education instructor Walter Rapetski. The local Aloft hotel has recently been awarded the prestigious Alice Marriott Community Service Award for 2018 in recognition for all their community involvement.
Walter has worked extensively over the past 5 years with GM David McCartney to partner with several projects that have benefited the students of the Hospitality Management program. These collaborations were a significant part of the downtown Aloft being selected for this award. Marriott interviewed Walter about these projects and excerpts from this interview will be part of the video that will be released in May and presented at the next annual national corporate convention.
Students Visit Biltmore Forest Country Club
On Wednesday, February 20, the students for the Hospitality Management Club were hosted for an evening at the Biltmore Forest County Club. Club members were treated to a tour of the private club, followed by dinner with the management team. The students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn all about managing a country club over dinner.
The hospitality club is a club through SGA that using their funding to tour throughout the county and meet industry professionals across a broad spectrum of hospitality. These experiences greatly enrich their educational experience, and further connect the College to the local community. These events are organized by the hospitality club advisor Walter Rapetski.
