The A-B Tech Creative Studio: Call for Submissions

The A-B Tech Creative Studio houses three virtual spaces where campus employees may submit either visual art or creative writing. The arts connect us. Take a moment to visualize your favorite piece of art, remember a beloved passage or musical score without the temptation of using a technological tool to review them. Whether this remembrance shows something ancient, contemporary, or any period of time spanning the breadth of history, something captured your attention. This internal dialog allows you to connect with an idea or an individual across cultures and time.

The Virtual Art and Multimedia Show:

Our intention for the Virtual Art and Multimedia Show is to allow any campus artist to submit work that may be viewed by employees of the College. Imagine the possibilities if this remains beyond our current circumstances so that it grows to the size of a gallery or a museum filled with the work of our local artisans. We welcome everything from images of the traditional fine arts to images of crafts while providing additional space for those who work in the mediums of video or music. Questions can be directed to Phyllis Boone: phyllismboone@abtech.edu.

The Creative Writing Studio:

The A-B Tech Writing Center welcomes all employees to participate in a virtual workshop series to boost creativity and expression during these unprecedented times. Each week, Writing Center staff members will lead two workshops via Zoom: Monday workshops will focus on idea generation to inspire writers' creativity throughout the week, and Friday workshops will be oriented around the work of revision. Writers of all skill levels and genres are welcome to participate; you do not need to participate every week, but participants who attend a Monday session would ideally join that week's Friday session. Our goal is to make the process of writing and rewriting joyful, accessible, and collaborative! Final works may be submitted to the Creative Writers' Workshop Sharepoint page for publication.

Weekly workshops will begin the week of April 13 and will be held every Monday and Friday at 4 p.m. via Zoom using this Zoom link. Questions and inquiries can be made to Emily Smith at emilycsmith@abtech.edu.
