International Education Week Nov. 14-18




International Education Week is November 14-18, and the Global Education Committee will be hosting events throughout the week.   Please join us for one or more of the following sessions.

Monday, November 14:

11 a.m. to  2 p.m.Food Truck Fiesta featuring DJ Alberto Martinez, Mountain Thunder Clogging and Rueda de Casino Cuban Salsa dancers.   Come grab a bite to eat and enjoy the shows in the parking lot behind the A-B Tech/Mission Health Conference Center.  

Tuesday, November 15:

9:30 to10:45 a.m. in Sycamore 201- Shunyu Huang presents “Growing Up in Urban China”.   Shunyu will unveil a side of China most people have not seen.  

12:45 to 1:45 p.m. Group walk to explore global places on our campus.  Meet in Elm 234 and dress appropriately for the weather!

Wednesday, November 16:

9:30 to10:45 a.m. in Sycamore 201:  Director David Seth Miller presents his short film Trawen: Travel, Transformation and Protecting Patagonia.  Discussion to follow.  

12 to 2 p.m. Elm Building, 2nd-floor entrance by Beech tree:  UNCA study abroad information session.  Are you transferring to UNCA?  Are you interested in studying abroad?  Stop by to learn about the study abroad opportunities through the UNCA system.  

Thursday, November 17:

12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Elm 133:  Spain study abroad information session with Kristen Schlaefer.  Are you interested in learning Spanish and/or required to take foreign language for your degree?  Find out about the upcoming language immersion opportunity in Salamanca, Spain.  

2:15 to 3:15  p.m. in Sycamore 201:  Eli Masem from Cooperative Coffee Roasters presents: Coffee!  Where it’s from, who’s growing it and how we get it.  

5 to 5:30 pm via Zoom:  Student Life and Development presents International Trivia Night!

Friday, November 18
12:15 to 1:45 via Zoom:  Join Lin Orndorf’s Introduction to Sustainability class to explore international examples of “livable cities” in Europe, Asia, South America, and the USA.
