NC Attorney General Jeff Jackson and several staff members visited the A-B Tech Woodfin on Friday, May 16, to participate in Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Physical Fitness Training.
“PT Lead Instructor Mike Sorensen and Asheville Police Chief Mike Lamb put us through our paces,” said BLET Director Daryl Fisher. “This group has their final Police Officer Physical Agility Testing (POPAT) on Monday, and the Attorney General told us he believes we have this group ready to be successful.”
Fisher said BLET physical fitness instructors work hard to prepare students, and he appreciates the state’s recognition of the program. “It is great to have the support of Attorney General Jackson, the NC Department of Justice, NC Criminal Justice Standards, and the President and vice-presidents of A-B Tech,” he said.
Fisher said the BLET program continues to see increases in the applicants. “A-B Tech plans to offer two classes this fall, and both are expected to be full, and we are currently taking applications for Spring 2026 and beyond”.
