I started as a part-time Reference Librarian/Instructor in 2004. I became the full-time Cataloging and Technical Services Librarian in September 2014. Earned the following degrees: A.B, Sweet Briar College; M.A., The University of South Carolina; M.L.I.S., The University of South Carolina. My hobbies and interests are reading, canoeing, stand up paddleboarding, hiking, biking, knitting, quilting, gardening, traveling, beach-goer, cat, and dog owner/lover.
What do you enjoy about working in Locke Library? I strongly support the freedom to read and research. At Locke Library, we work with everyone on campus: employees, students, and community members.
Carrie Jarvis
I started working at A-B Tech in June of 2018, one month after I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with my Bachelor's degree in History, with the primary focus of my studies being the utilization of female labor as a globally significant indicator of rapid industrialization on a cross-cultural platform. I enjoy reading and writing, particularly short stories and slam poetry. I also enjoy watching documentaries and docuseries in my free time.
What do you enjoy about working in Locke Library? I enjoy working in Locke Library because of the opportunity to assist the students and staff of A-B Tech, and being the first to read the new books doesn't hurt! I also have an Associate in Fine Arts degree from Blue Ridge Community College, specializing in theatre.
Reminders: Sign up and a take tour of Locke Library during the spring semester and be entered into a drawing for an A-B Tech themed gift basket. Nominations end this week: The Welcoming task force of the RISE committee is seeking nominations for the spring Trailblazer RISE award. Nominate any A-B Tech employee who exemplifies not only a welcoming attitude but practices the RISE principles of Respect, Integrity, Support for Everyone. The deadline is Friday, March 8.
