A-B Tech Supports Students Through Scholarships, Emergency Funds

The A-B Tech Foundation awarded more than 400 scholarships totaling more than $600,000 for the 2022-23 academic year and is set to give again for the 2023-24 year. Students may receive up to $2,000 to cover tuition and other expenses.

“One of the A-B Tech Foundation’s primary goals is to help students achieve their educational goals,” said Amanda Edwards, executive director, of College Advancement. “We are fortunate to have donors across Buncombe and Madison counties who support us with scholarship funds. Now, more than ever, we are relying on our community to help us fill the financial aid gaps our students are facing. Every student should have the opportunity to achieve their dreams,”

The Foundation’s scholarships are more important than ever this year since the college no longer offers free tuition funded by state and federal COVID-19 emergency funds. The Foundation also has emergency funds to support students on an as-needed basis, Edwards said.

Current and prospective students may apply for scholarships for the 2023-24 academic year from today until March 31, with awards announced in June. Students must enroll and register for classes at A-B Tech to become eligible for scholarships.

Scholarships are available for any program at A-B Tech with some designated specifically for Cosmetology, Art, Culinary, STEM, Emergency Services, and many other areas of study. There are also scholarships for females, minorities, and single parents.
